Europe Plans to Ban PFAS "Forever Chemicals"
May 8, 2025
VTV.vn – The European Commission (EC) is planning to ban PFAS chemicals in consumer products to protect public health and the environment.
The European Commission (EC) is working on a plan to prohibit the use of PFAS chemicals - also known as "forever chemicals" - in consumer goods, except for essential industrial applications.
In a statement on January 20, 2025, the EU’s Environment Committee emphasized that banning PFAS would not only protect human health and the environment but also support industries in gradually phasing out these substances. PFAS are a group of compounds that do not break down in the environment and are considered to pose long-term harmful effects if left unchecked.

PFAS are known for their heat resistance and anti-corrosive properties and are commonly found in products such as cosmetics, non-stick cookware, airplanes, and wind turbines. The ban aims to promote more sustainable alternatives in the future.
