Detailed description
Florit is an industrial mineral that releases the element fluorine. Florit has two main uses: to produce hydrofluoric acid (HF), a substance used as a building block for fluorine chemicals, and to produce aluminum fluoride (AlF3), an important additive in the electrolytic production of aluminum.
In addition, fluorite is used in many steel, aluminum, ceramic-glass, and nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) products. Products such as home and automotive air conditioners, Teflon plastic products, anti-fatigue medications, welding rods, glass, and ceramics all contain fluorite.
