1. History of ISO 9001

Standards issued by ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) all begin with the letters ISO. This organization is an association of national standards organizations (comprising 163 members) operating to promote the development of production, trade, and communication in business organizations worldwide through the development of common quality standards. ISO was established in 1947, with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Vietnam has been a full member since 1977 and has now been elected to the ISO executive board.
