What is MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)?

MDF is a type of engineered wood panel made primarily from finely ground natural wood fibers mixed with special adhesives and additives. It's then pressed under high temperature and pressure to create a solid board with a smooth, flat surface.

Advantages of MDF:

• Smooth, flat surface, easy to apply finishing materials such as Melamine, Laminate, Veneer, and PU paint.

• Stable, less warping and shrinkage compared to natural wood.

• Easy to process, cut, join, shape, and carve for various interior designs.

• Reasonable price compared to natural wood.

• Good sound and heat insulation due to the tightly bonded wood fiber structure.

Disadvantages of MDF:

• Poor moisture resistance compared to specialized moisture-resistant boards (however, there is now a green core MDF to overcome this).

• Moderate load-bearing capacity, not suitable for structures with large loads.

• Prolonged water contact can cause swelling and reduce lifespan.

Applications:

• Production of cabinets, shelves, tables, chairs, doors, partitions, wall cladding, home, office, and school furniture...

• Suitable for flat furniture products requiring a smooth surface, easy to paint or paste decorative materials.
