INSTRUCTIONS FOR MIXING ADHESIVE AND TILING
Prepare Tools
Before installation, prepare all necessary tools to ensure the best efficiency:
Notched trowel: Used to spread and create adhesive grooves on the surface
Adhesive mixer: Helps mix the adhesive evenly, preventing lumps
Rubber mallet: Helps to align and ensure tiles adhere firmly to the base
Spirit level: Check the flatness of the tile surface after installation
Mixing bucket, measuring cup for water, damp rags or sponge: Used to mix adhesive and clean tiles
Prepare the Surface
The installation surface must meet the requirements to ensure optimal adhesion:
Clean, dry, free from grease and dust.
Level and stable, no cracks or subsidence.
Check the moisture content of the base, avoid installation on excessively dry or moist surfaces.
No need to soak tiles before installation.
Mix Tile Adhesive
Mix the adhesive at the correct ratio of 1 water: 3 adhesive (25kg bag needs about 6-6.3 liters of water).
Stir well with a slow speed mixer (150 rpm) until the mixture is homogeneous, without lumps, and without excessive air bubbles.
If no mixer is available, if mixing by hand, only mix less than 5kg of adhesive at a time, and stir thoroughly to ensure the adhesive is smooth and free of lumps.
After mixing, wait 5 minutes for the adhesive to absorb the water evenly, then mix again before use.
Note: Do not mix too much adhesive at once, only mix enough for 30-45 minutes to avoid the adhesive hardening. Do not add more water to the adhesive after mixing.
Apply Adhesive to the Surface
Use a notched trowel to spread the adhesive onto the base to a thickness of 3-5mm.
Hold the trowel at a 60-degree angle, pull evenly to create adhesive grooves to increase adhesion.
For large tiles (30x30cm or larger), apply an additional thin layer of adhesive to the back of the tile.
Note: Do not apply adhesive in small patches or only apply adhesive to the back of the tile, as this can create gaps under the base, easily causing tile cracking.
Apply Tiles to the Surface
Place the tile on the adhesive layer, press down lightly to ensure the tile adheres firmly to the base.
Use a rubber mallet to tap evenly vertically to the tile surface to ensure the adhesive is evenly distributed underneath.
Adjust the tile position within 10-15 minutes before the adhesive dries completely.
Use tile spacers to ensure uniform grout joints.
Note: Do not leave the adhesive on the surface exposed to the air for too long before placing the tile, as this may reduce adhesion.
Post-Installation Cleaning
Remove excess adhesive from the tile surface while the adhesive is still wet, avoid letting the adhesive dry hard, making it difficult to clean.
Use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe off the adhesive on the tile surface.
Wait for the adhesive to dry completely for 24-48 hours before grouting.
